Sr. Network Engineer

Our client has an immediate opening for an experienced Sr. Network Engineer with a focus in network security to install, maintain and support enterprise networks, Silverpeak SDN and Palo Alto network security components both on-premise and in the public cloud. The ideal candidate will have a solid ‘hands-on’ background in deploying and managing enterprise network and security solutions. This person will possess a high degree of self-management, personal accountability and a strong collaborative mindset.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work as a security SME and member of the infrastructure engineering team
  • Provide senior level expertise on decisions and priorities regarding the network environment with high emphasis on implementing secure architectures.
  • Work collaboratively with Information Security to monitor the environment, implement required changes and serve as escalation for security related issues
  • Drive solutions to problems impacting mission critical systems and implement required changes to prevent reoccurrence
  • Coordinate and perform network maintenance and upgrades with communication and approvals from the business on a predefined schedule
  • Acts as the liaison and subject matter expert between the architecture and engineering teams to integrate technical solutions to existing multifaceted, complex, customer facing production environments.
  • Mentor and train Network Engineers and Sr Network Engineers.
  • Acts as the top-level escalation point for all networks and related technical and security designs.
  • Respond, analyze, and follow up on outstanding network issues at all levels; ensure timely problem resolution.
  • Responsible for provisioning and support of the LAN, WAN and Security infrastructure for Enterprise and Production environments
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Technical degree or work experience equivalent
  • Thorough knowledge of security and VPN technologies
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in production environment supporting Panorama and Palo Alto security appliances
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting skills through resolution; understanding problem from the network, OS, and application levels.
  • Occasional travel and after-hours support will be required.
  • Good verbal & written communication skills with ability to document implementations using MS-Word, Excel and Visio for presentations in PowerPoint or similar tools
  • Thrives in a collaborative team environment and effectively collaborates across teams and organizations

Preferred Competencies

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
  • Experience with MPLS, SilverPeak SDWAN, AnyConnect/ASA VPNs
  • Possess a strong working and design knowledge of the following protocols and attributes: Ethernet (802.3 and 802.11), OSPF, BGP, IPSec, SNMP, IPv6, and TCP.
  • Palo Alto and Cisco vendor specific experience in an enterprise environment.
  • Experience architecting, implementing and managing public cloud security in both AWS and Azure
  • Experience with Network monitoring tools including Solarwinds, Extrahop and Netflow
  • Experience working in regulated and/or high-security environments and industries (PCI, HIPAA, HITRUST).
