Job Description

The successful Network Security Engineer II will provide enterprise-wide technical support via phone, email and in person for network connectivity and management products and services working with other engineers to perform or facilitate network assessments, security requirements, and capacity planning.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Install, manage, and maintain network LAN, WAN, and security infrastructure including concentrations in data center, routing and switching, wireless, firewall, VPN, web proxy, and identity services.  Engineer II should be able to handle advanced tasks without supervision

• Assist all level I engineers with advanced administration and configuration activities

• Assist level III engineers and management with design, test, and installation activities

• Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for any system assigned.  Employee can expect to perform in-depth research and support on configurations, supported services, site-specific documentation, troubleshooting, and internal training

• Serve as lead for network circuit contracts and inventory management; maintain accurate enterprise-wide asset management documentation such as circuit numbers, licensing, new orders, and disconnects

• Participate in project and system integration activities with other IT teams including UNIX, database, Windows, telecommunications, web, branch technology, and security administrators; help desk and desktop support, and software developers

• Identify network system monitoring and proactive alerting requirements for major alarms and events; coordinate corrective actions with Network Operations Center, administrators, vendors, and business partners as necessary

• Coordinate with vendors and business partners to ensure proper installation of new service and equipment in corporate and branch locations

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED
  • 1-3 years of previous job related work experience
  • Experience supporting data, voice and IT security aspects of an organization's network recently and at a full time capacity
  • Experience operating in a regulated environment and adhering to governance including change control and documentation requirements
  • Experience in application and system design principles applicable to network engineering
  • Ability to work in a supportive team environment
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced IT environment
  • Must be eligible for bondability
